2 to 3 days before the party
* Buy remaining food.

* Buy film and /or video.

* Check batteries or camera/camcorder.

* Call entertainer to confirm.

* Call party venue to confirm.

* Gift wrap party favors and/or game prizes.

* Prepare loot bags/treat sacks, goodie bags.

* Begin decorating (save outdoor decorations for the day of the party).

*  Prepare food that can be made ahead of time.

The Day Before
* Review games and activities.
Pick up cake or bake if you are making your own.
* Set up tables and chairs, buffet table etc.
* Child proof the party area.

* Begin decorating (save outdoor decorations for the day of the party ).

*  Prepare food that can be made ahead of time.



* Finish any last minute decorations..

* Set out party supplies (table cloths, cups ,napkins etc..

*Pick up helium balloons or blow up regular balloons.

* Prepare foods and beverages that could not be made ahead of time.
* Great guests at the door with a smile.


6 to 8 Weeks Before the Party

  * Set date of Party.

  * Decide on the location and make a venue reservation.

  * Plan your menu

  * Create the guest list.

  * Set the Party theme.

  * Line up any entertainment vendors.

One Week Before the Party

* Buy and wrap gift for the birthday star.

* Tell siblings to invite a special friend over for the day so they don't feel left out. 
They can join the party, play apart or they can be helpers.

2 Weeks Before the party

* Order Cake.

* Write out a final schedule of activities

* Confirm reservations and make final guest count.

* Plan for additional chaperones, if necessary. 
This can be as simple as an older sibling, cousin, friend, etc.

3 to 4 weeks before the party

* Purchase and send  invitations with  RSVP and directions.

* Purchase themed party favors, goodie bags, game prizes, party supplies, decorations, craft essentials, posters, table cloths, plate, cups and    
   napkins, party hats, balloons, noisemakers, confetti, candles and matches.

* Purchase or download music and make a playlist.

* Make sure you have enough chairs and tables factoring in adult seating as well.

* Finalize your menu.

 4 to 5 Weeks Before the Party

* Plan your menu

* Make a schedule of activities for the party. 

   Factor in time for entertainment, lunch & snacks, gift opening, & simply allowing kids time to run around.

* Plan more games than you expect to use in case you run out of activities before the party is over.

* Keep in mind that an outdoor party may become an indoor party in case of rain, so plan alternative activities, just in case.
